What LocalShot does

LocalShot captures a complete webpage from top to bottom and saves the result to your device as a PNG file. The capture is triggered only when you click the extension icon. The extension does nothing on its own.

Data we collect

None. LocalShot has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no error logging service, no advertising identifiers, and no user accounts. There is no server component to send data to.

Specifically, LocalShot does not collect or transmit:

• Your screenshots or any part of their contents
• The URLs, titles, or contents of pages you visit
• Personally identifiable information of any kind
• Health, financial, or authentication information
• Personal communications
• Location data
• Browsing history or search history
• Usage statistics, click data, or device identifiers

How your screenshots are handled

When you start a capture, LocalShot scrolls the page, captures the visible region in sections, and stitches those sections into a single image inside your browser using a local canvas. The finished image is passed to Chrome's download system and written to your device.

At no point does the image data leave your browser. There is no upload step, no cloud processing, no remote stitching service, and no copy retained anywhere after the download completes.

Permissions and why they are needed

• activeTab grants temporary access to the tab you are currently viewing, and only at the moment you click the extension. It does not grant access to other tabs or to any page you have not explicitly acted on.
• downloads allows the finished image to be written to your device. It is used only to save the file you asked for.
• scripting allows the capture routine to run on the page so it can scroll and measure it. Nothing is read from the page beyond what is needed to render the screenshot.
• offscreen allows the image stitching to run in a background document so the capture does not block the page you are viewing. This runs locally in your browser.

LocalShot does not request broad host permissions, does not run on every site you visit, and does not execute remotely hosted code.

Third parties

LocalShot does not share, sell, rent, or transfer any data to third parties, because it does not collect any data to begin with. There are no third party libraries, SDKs, fonts, or scripts loaded at runtime.

This policy page itself is served as a static file and does not use cookies or trackers.

Children

LocalShot is a general purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects no data, it collects no data from children either.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a revised date at the top. Any change that would affect how data is handled will be reflected here before the corresponding version of the extension is published.
